Victorian Sea Glass Necklace – Genuine Seaham Glass Cluster on Leather, St Barth
$550.00
Victorian sea glass necklace — genuine Seaham glass cluster, 11 pieces, hand-knotted on kangaroo leather. 90 to 160 years old. One of a kind. St Barth.
This is not sea glass jewelry you'll find anywhere else. This is the real thing — and there is only one place on earth where it comes from.
In 1853, the Candlish Bottleworks glassworks was built on the cliffs at Seaham, County Durham, in northern England. For decades it produced glass in almost every color imaginable — reds, blues, yellows, opaque whites — using materials including selenium, arsenic, gold, and even uranium to achieve perfection of color and clarity. When the factory closed in the early 1920s, its glass remnants were tossed over the cliffs into the sea below. More than a century of North Sea waves did the rest — grinding, polishing, frosting each fragment into something the factory never intended to make. Something beautiful.
Seaham sea glass is now recognized as the rarest and most collectible beach glass in the world. The beach yields less every year. Each piece in this necklace is genuine Victorian sea glass from Seaham — 90 to 160 years old, shaped entirely by the sea, carrying the colors of a glassworks that no longer exists.
Eleven pieces are carefully drilled by hand and knotted one by one onto premium kangaroo leather cord using traditional sailor knots. The eleventh piece serves as the clasp — sliding freely so the necklace transforms from a long sautoir to a crew-length statement necklace with the glass cluster falling to the side.
This is a statement necklace that tells a story no other piece of jewelry can tell. A sea glass necklace made from glass that predates your grandmother. Ocean jewelry with 160 years of provenance — worn on the beaches of Saint-Barthélemy.
A gift for wife who understands that true luxury is always rare. A mothers day necklace for the woman who has everything — except a piece of Victorian England shaped by the sea.
Made to order — each necklace will be slightly different as every piece of Seaham sea glass is unique. Every piece arrives in a handcrafted treasure gift box, sealed with personalized calligraphy and a small tin of organic leather care cream.

Your PEARLS like be brought but dislike being perfumed or creamed respecting the old adage: "the beads should be the last thing you put on and the first you remove."
The LEATHER must be hydrated whenever he shows signs of drought. If the leather is too dry or that it gives you the impression to lose its patina, simply rub it with some shea butter (tiny tin of ultra-nourishing organic leather-care cream, perfect moisturizer for your jewel includ in every gift box) as often as necessary in order to give it back its flexibility and its beauty. Water, Sun, sand, sea water, sports, daily activities, travel or work: with care, your "Treasure of St Barth" will last a lifetime and the leather, getting older, will develop a beautiful patina.
